Botox® & Dysport™
for the Detroit, Michigan Area
The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, usually referred to by the product names Botox® or Dysport™, is a non-surgical injection that reduces or eliminates:
- Frown lines in between the brows
- Forehead creases
- Crow's feet near the eyes
- Wrinkles on the sides of the nose
- Thick bands in the neck
Botox blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. There is no downtime after your injections, and results are usually visible in 3-7 days. Most patients tell us the results last 3-6 months. At Birmingham Institute of Plastic Surgery, a registered nurse, specially trained in the technique, uses tiny needles to deliver Botox treatments. You can also enjoy the peace of mind knowing that all treatments are performed at the office under the supervision of board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. William J. Vasileff.
Dysport is another injectable form of the botulinum toxin (abobotulinumtoxinA) that is used in the same way as Botox Cosmetic. Dysport takes effect slightly quicker, and in some patients may produce longer-lasting results. The cost of the two products is comparable so the decision as to which product to use is determined between patient and physician.
Botox and Dysport work very well in conjunction with other wrinkle treatments including injectable fillers like Juvéderm® and Restylane® and laser skin rejuvenation.
