Breast Augmentation from Dr. Vasileff
Dr. Vasileff takes his time to understand your goals and explains all of the factors that require thoughtful consideration including desired breast size; implant type (silicone or saline); implant location (behind or in front of the muscle); and whether you may also need a breast lift. If you're in the market for disproportionately large breasts, Dr. Vasileff is probably not your surgeon. He believes that the best plastic surgery achieves a "you, only better" result and will help you select the implants best suited to your figure, height and natural breast size.
Understanding Breast Augmentation
Implants are inserted behind the breast tissue, or partially or completely under the chest muscles. Incisions are made to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible, usually under the breast. Breast implants are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and textures. It is important to understand that breast augmentation does not correct sagging breasts. Women who want to improve fullness as well as the position and shape of the breast should consider breast lift.
Preparing for Breast Augmentation
Dr. Vasileff may ask you to get a baseline mammogram before surgery. In addition, a nurse will provide you with a full list of instructions leading up to and including the day of surgery. In Michigan, breast augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis so you'll need to arrange for someone to drive you to and from surgery and to stay with you for at least the first night.
Recovering from Surgery
For the first week after surgery, you should keep activities to a minimum, and there is absolutely no heavy lifting, pushing or pulling. You will probably feel some discomfort, which can be relieved by pain medication, and you may experience some bruising or mild swelling of the breasts. It's okay to sleep in a position that is comfortable for you but not on your stomach. You should wear a sports bra for light pressure and support. After about a week, you will return to the office to check on your healing. Dr. Vasileff uses dissolving stitches that don't need to be removed. After this first visit, he will tell you when you can resume moderate activity and at what point you can resume exercising.
Enjoying Your Results
Results from breast enlargement are immediately visible. Final results appear gradually over the next few weeks as swelling goes down and breast shape settles. Incision lines continue to fade over the next year. Patients from all over Michigan are thrilled to throw away their padded bras and enjoy the self-confidence that comes with their new curves.
